Walrus Tusk

Fossilized walrus ivory is ancient from 300 to 5,000 years old and not obtained from living animals. Excavated during the short arctic summers by the Bering Straits Inuit from privately owned land within old village and hunting sites, fossilized walrus ivory is legal to own and carve. This walrus ivory exhibits an exotic array of warm colors due to the mineral deposits in the soil where it has lain for centuries.
