Walrus Tusk Paisley Dragonfly Pendant

The paisley is a well-known and decorated design derived from the teardrop, and its watery origins make the paisley a fitting backdrop for our silver dragonfly pendant. Dragonflies are nymphs living exclusively underwater before they emerge and become the winged beauties we know and love. The dragonfly lives a life divided between both environments. He is a symbol of transformation, change, and purity.

Designers echoed the paisley's curling silhouette in the dragonfly's tail, which is made from fossilized walrus tusk ivory. This prized fossilized ivory is between 500 and 3,000 years old, and it has spent most of its life buried underground. There, minerals color it the warm cream to rich cocoa colors we see today. After erosion and the tides uncover the fossilized walrus ivory, Native peoples gather it for caving, sale, and trade. It is vital part of their cultural history and indigenous economy.
