This sea turtle's shell is carved from fossilized walrus ivory, an ancient material some 500-3,000 years old that has lain in the earth for much of its life. There, minerals color the walrus ivory the caramel to deep cocoa hues that have come to signify this fossilized ivory. Native peoples have a long tradition of gathering this prized material, and it is worked the world over into carved ivory jewelry pieces such as this sea turtle pin/pendant or other art works.

This fossilized ivory turtle pin also features a pendant back, enabling you to wear it both as a pin and a necklace. Sparkling blue topaz and green peridot suggest the sea and finish this piece from our popular sea turtle jewelry collection.
