"Moon Flower" Ancient Fossilized Mammoth Tusk Ivory and Sterling Silver Honeybee Pendant

This mother of pearl moon and ivory flower necklace is carved by hand and set in gleaming sterling silver for an effect as pure and delicate as moonlight itself.

The diorama type scene of this pendant, tells a story or evoke a mood. This ethereal and serene mother of pearl moon necklace is accented with a fossilized ivory flower and intricate sterling silver bud details. Its lines and shapes employ a touch of classic Asian design in their simplicity and in the single bloom, which, with its contrasting rich color, draws the eye.

The fossilized ivory flower is carved from mammoth ivory, which dates back to before the last of the wooly mammoths roamed the earth over 15,000 years ago. This ancient material comes to us now in a variety of colors. It may retain its luminous cream color if buried in permafrost throughout the centuries. It may accrete a soft caramel to warm mocha color, depending on the mineral content of the soil. Each piece of mammoth ivory promises a unique hue, and the flower on your specific pendant may vary in color from the one pictured here.

This carved ivory pendant also features a lovely twisting vine bale that places the pendant on the chain in a naturally inspired communion that retains the delicate lines in this piece.
