Spiral Earrings with Blue Topaz and Rainbow Moonstone

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” ― Carl Sagan

These earrings seem to have been plucked right out of the celestial ether. The two round stones and ancient ivory are like three planets in orbit; the sterling silver swirls are their galaxy. The night skies are full of possibilities. How lovely it is to lie outside on a clear night, gazing up into the stars, pondering the mysteries of the universe.

The top stone is a faceted rainbow moonstone, followed by a faceted blue topaz. The fossilized ivory at the base is hand carved from ancient mammoth tusk ivory. The fossilized ivory lay in the ground for over 15,000 years, surrounded by ancient minerals that were formed from eons of exploding stars and celestial circumstances. After centuries lying buried in darkness, the ivory comes to light in this exquisite pendant. It's a poignant combination of new, old, ancient, and stardust.
