Handmade Fossilized Ivory and Sterling Silver Eclipse Necklace
Our double eclipse necklace pendant is the perfect statement piece with its balance of beautiful natural materials and stellar design. A double eclipse, which happens when two space bodies obscure our view of the sun, is extremely rare. This did happen in the fall of 2015 when a NASA satellite’s continuous view of the Sun was obscured by both the Earth and the Moon.
The accent materials in this eclipse necklace are hand carved from fossilized walrus tusk. This tusk has lain in the earth for some 500 to 3,000 years where it accretes a range of warm toned hues due to minerals in the earth. The result is a resilient and lustrous material that is ideal for carving and for pieces of art jewelry. Our artisans select the fossilized walrus ivory pieces in varied tones to lend the pendant depth and dimension. Two sparkling blue topaz stones balance the fossilized ivory’s warmth. Blue topaz is considered the stone of inspiration and communication. Its brilliant blue shade evokes the ocean or an afternoon sky after a fresh rain.
