Garnet and Gold Fill Fossilized Tusk Bee Pendant

This fossilized ivory and garnet silver bee pendant was designed to pay homage to the humble bee, a creature as vital to our ecosystem as he is dear to our hearts. The Glory Bee pendant sees our intrepid worker bee flying toward the next nectar spot in his quest for sustenance. Bees have come to symbolize harmony, integrity, and diligence for the work they perform in the hive and in the world. As critical pollinators, bees support virtually every member of the food chain.

Three faceted garnet accent stones beautifully complement the sterling silver and rich 14kt gold fill mixed metals in this pendant. The overall effect is of an inner fire created by the pendant’s warm tones and the bee’s unfailing commitment to his cause.

The bee’s body is hand carved from fossilized walrus ivory, which has lain buried in the earth for some 500 to 3,000 years. This fossilized ivory is cherished for its inimitable quality and for the touch of ancient times it brings to the jewelry and art works that feature it. Native Alaskans gather our fossilized walrus ivory after the tides or erosion bring it again to the light. This ancient ivory is an important cultural and economic resource for indigenous Alaskan peoples, as well as a treasured material worldwide.
